Florida Tech to Celebrate Martin Luther King Day with Pioneer Award

MELBOURNE, FLA.—Florida Tech will celebrate the life and achievements of Martin Luther King Jr. on Wednesday, Jan. 7, at 7 p.m. on campus. The commemoration, hosted by Alumni Affairs and the Department of Humanities and Communication, will take place in the Denius Student Center’s John and Martha Hartley Room on the second floor. Florida Tech Presents President’s Medal to Phillip W. Farmer

MELBOURNE, FLA.—Florida Institute of Technology presented its most prestigious award, the President’s Medal, to Phillip W. Farmer on Dec. 13 at the university’s fall commencement ceremony. Retired chairman, president and chief executive officer of Harris Corporation, Farmer is chair of the board of trustees and chair of the executive committee of Florida Tech. Full Article
Satellite High Graduate Becomes Circuit Judge, U.S. Court of Appeals

MELBOURNE, FLA.—The investiture of Catharina Haynes, a 1980 graduate of Satellite High School, was recently held, making her a Judge for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. The court hears appeals from the federal district courts of Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas. Full Article
